Just sketchy...

I may be a bit partial, but Milledge Avenue in Athens is one of the prettiest streets ever, and its because of the historic mansions lining the streets that comprise the Greek life at UGA. Heery's Too didn't have many options associated with sorority life at the University of Georgia. I have a beautiful drawing of the ADPi house that my mother-in-law gave me, and thought that it would make a lovely gift for others as well. I did simple sketches of a few of the sorority houses, framed them, and have them on sale at Heery's Too. Just wanted you all to see what I did on
Tuesday...

Happy Birthday Amanda!

My handsome hubs with sweet Ally-girl
We dined al-fresco before a torrential downpour ran us inside!
They love each other!
My tablecloth from Quogue served as our topper, and Grandmother's napkins looked lovely with it and my R.Wood china. A perfectly grilled steak a-la David with asparagus and eggplant, and plenty of Charles Shaw vino.
It was nice to be at home this weekend, and to celebrate Amanda's birthday with her by having her over for dinner last night, and then heading to brunch with Pammy and Pop today and little Ben. Happy Birthday Amanda!

Friday funday

Fresh Acorn squash, steamed zucchini with onion, grilled peaches, and pork chops with rosemary and balsamic caramelized onions. Amazing!
Yesterday, David and I had the pleasure of hitting up our local Jaemor Farms farmer's market. We absolutely love going there and coming home with loads and loads of fresh-from-the-farm veggies. And I couldn't be more excited to plan menus and meals around our new fare! In addition to veggies, fruits, and boiled peanuts, they had these gorgeous white pumpkins which look adorable on my front door step. Sandy the kitty was impressed with them too, and kept guard while Mommy placed them just so. Yesterday, I spent time at Amanda's going an Extreme Home Makeover/Design on a Dime. She and I had a ball, and her home looks so fun and fresh - just like her. We have a little ways to go, but I think it looks great. That's another post...   Since Amanda had plans, we were able to keep our doggie-neice, Ally. She loves coming to our house to play with our kids. David and I cooked dinner from our delicious new produce choices, watched some TiVo (Jersey Shore!), and hit the hay. Mighty nice Friday night. Oh, and Westfield won so shout-out to Baby Bro!

Catchin' up with The Griffins!

As most of you know, David and I spent 5 days at sea with some of our nearest and dearest friends - The Muller-Stones, The Kings, The Wages, and The Campbells. We boarded the Carnival Fascination on a bright Saturday morning, and had a ball for the next 5 days lounging by the pool, eating 3 course dinners, riding the water slide and enjoying the two excursions in the Bahamas. The highlight of the trip was swimming with the dolphins at the Atlantis resort...it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience to play with them, have them push us on a boogie board, swim alongside them, and talk to them. Wish we had pictures of that, but no cameras allowed with Flipper!           One of the most fun parts of our days on the ship were having our pictures taken on the boat and seeing just how cheesy they can get...the above four pictures are the ones that David and I came home with. If anyone wants a copy of us in all white in an 8x10, please send me an email. HAHAHAHAHAHA!                  More recently, we headed to Panama City for the long Labor Day weekend. We were tickled for the Hills and the Campbells to join us for the 3rd year in a row. Sadly, the Wages couldn't come since Brian was under the weather - we missed them! This weekend was spend relaxing on the white sand and enjoying the amazing weather we all were having in the south. As I sit here at my house in Gainesville, its the most pleasant afternoon with fall in the air.
Our first day on the beach, Hollie and I were enjoying our delicious salads from Oceans and discarding of our carb-loaded croutons in the sand. Well, the seagulls can definitely eat carbs, and were helping themselves much to our horror!
In an attempt to catch the boys off-guard after our amazing dinner at Firefly, we had a surprise for them at the top of the stairs. We were waiting quietly on the next flight when....
....they blocked us! They dropped us off at the door, zipped to the store across the street, & bought more ices!         Sneaky boys!
To be fair, they said we'd have a group "icing". Thanks guys.
I couldn't resist this picture....on Saturday morning, I walked into the kitchen and found David and Wesley cooking breakfast....
And Hollie and Nick doing a workout video before we went on our morning walk. I'm pretty sure this all means we've crossed the threshold into adulthood.
Beautiful day on the beach!
Since Saturday was dominated by college football (GO DAWGS!), us gals decided to ditch the boys and head to check out the sights along 30-A....first Rosemary Beach, then the fabulous Alys Beach.
There was a gorgeous wedding taking place. To all you single gals, keep this incredible locale in mind!
The Zen garden made me want to meditate. Immediately.
After our girly adventures, we had a little shopping time and a beer at Pier Park. At the local watering hole - Tootsies - they have half of a bathtub devoted to Smirnoff Ice.
Waiting for our table at Bonefish Grill - tough guys!
We were so excited that Jenna came over to join us for some fun!
Happy Hills
No holiday weekend would be complete without a good ol' beach wedding. Right in front of our porch.
And this beautiful sunset was on our last night.
Montego Bay for some fried seafood!
And bowling to cap off a great weekend!
There's a bit of a bromance going on here...
David and I are so lucky to have friends that like to "go and do" as much as we do! We love being with them, and are so happy when we're all together. Looking forward to Cruise 2011 already and Labor Day '11 too!

This time tomorrow....

I'll have my toes in this beautiful white sand!

Hope you all have a wondeful, relaxing Labor Day weekend and opening weekend of college football! GO DAWGS!

Weekly Standard

On Friday, I spent the day at Scott's Antique Market with my mom, my mother-in-law Pam, my sis-in-law Amanda, and aunt-in-law Vicky! We had the best time - we're working on a project in Hawkinsville. I was tickled to be able to go with Amanda to take Ben to school and to pick him up...what a treat for me!

Later on Friday night, David and I were so excited to have The Arnolds and Clayton come to visit! After dinner, we scooted across the lake and picked up The Smithsons, Ansley and Ben, and Sydney and Gray. We stayed on the boat talking and dancing way too late! And as always, Baxter was right there with us!
He loves the boat!
And everyone loves him!
We were able to get out on the water again late Saturday afternoon after the sun came out. It ended up being the most lovely afternoon - the boys floated in the water and the gals stayed ashore to chat and read magazines. David and I were glad that Robert, William and Kelsey came to play too!
My sweet mom sent us a bunch of grape tomatoes which were delicious! And the Arnolds brought us peppers from their garden and peaches from Lane's! We enjoyed the tomatoes and peppers in my homemade guacamole over the weekend. And the peaches were a delicious snack on the boat!
This is the bag that Hollie blogged about previously - its been the absolute best beach bag I've ever had. It goes with us anytime we're on the water, or headed to the beach.
We spent Sunday afternoon with Ben and Amanda - he's the cutest thing!
He loves to pose and say cheese!
"Maggie, why do you take so many pictures of me?"
Because you're the cutest kid ever!
Ben had a turn as the photographer and captured DayDuh...
Aunt Maggie...
And Mommy! Don't they look just alike!
This gorgeous view sent us home to gear up for the week ahead...and getting ready for our cruise!

Our fabulous friends helped clean up before they all headed home - so sweet! But after a house full of company this weekend, it needed a little more of a pick-me-up. David looked at me and said "Babe, will it bother you if I vacuum?"

How lucky am I?

As if I would ever say, "Well, darling, you're just vacuuming too much."

When you have a Dyson, vacuuming is way more fun. When you have a hubs like mine, life is perfect.
