Sprouts!

Here's the progress of my potted herbs. They are loving the sunshine and being inside for the time being! Keeping my fingers crossed for summer herbs a'plenty!

Dreamin' and Cleanin'

Last week, upon our return from Jackson Hole's snowy weather, we were greeted with warm Spring weather in Georgia. It got me jazzed to "swap over" my closets. In our 50's ranch-style house, closet space is not quite in abundance. So, out of the 4 tiny closets we have, I have one, David has one, our linens are in one, and my crafts are in the last one. Mine is technically the only "walk-in" closet, but that's a bit of an over-statement.
I digress....I store my summer things in a little antique armoire in one of the guest rooms to make way for winter coats and such. And during the summer, we store our winter/ski things down in the basement and use the little armoire for sweaters, scarves, and boots. I had so much fun cleaning out my closet and remembering what I have! It got me pumped for some lake time, some beach time, and some warmer weather clothes. Have you done your spring cleaning yet?
Taking out all my winter things, and making piles....give away, throw away, and sell.

My little armoire is the home of my summer things during the colder months.

Agggghhhhhh! Our bedroom was a disaster! But, I was able to really clean out the little space. Since there's hardwoods in there, they needed a good vacuuming too.

And here she is with all of the bright fun stuff for the warmer months.

Its so fun for me to do this....I always forget what I have!

I wanted to show a few pictures of dream closets I have seen on TV, both real and staged....they are more like boutiques than closets!
Miss Paris Hilton's closet. Obviously, she loves pattern and color in her clothes like I do. The mirrored cabinet in the middle is super glam! And that chandelier!

And Ms. Oprah Winfrey's well-organized space. Truly, a place for every thing. I love her lanterns!

Did any of you see this episode of Cribs? Well, this is Mariah's closet. It really should be called Mimi's Boutique! With babies on the way, something tells me that she won't be wearing all those stilettos anymore! I love the petite tufted pink silk chair. It looks amazing sitting on those fabulous marble inlaid floors.

How much fun would it be to get dressed in here with all of your girlfriends?!?!

THE iconic Carrie Bradshaw closet from her apartment. I love the beautiful blue paint on the cabinetry.

I love the rug too....not to mention those gorgeous couture clothes hanging along the rods. I loved the time when she and her girlfriends tried on all of her old clothes.

And what an upgrade she had when Big designed this closet for them in the new apartment! This takes His & Hers to a whole new level!
Its not the size of a small house, but for now, I am happy to have my little closet organized and at the ready when I need her. And the organizing freak that I am really loves my time to myself doing my spring cleaning.

Herbs de provence

Yesterday was such a beautiful day, and David and I spent it together grocery shopping, planting pansies, and getting our herb garden ready. I chose to start with parsley, basil, cilantro, and chives. I want to add mint and rosemary, but I was going to see how I did with these 4 little guys first. They're inside in my kitchen for the time being, but when the weather warms a little they'll live outside on my porch. I cant wait to have summer caprese salad with my basil, fresh guacamole with the cilantro, salads with chives, and grilled chicken with parsley! I included a few pictures of other herb plantings to spark ideas for your own. And pictures of the chalkboard painted tongue depressors I used to label my pots.
This is adorable ...so cute for a window sill!

If I see these while I'm out and about, I wouldn't be able to resist grabbing them!

These would be an adorable party favor.

And here's a spin on my tongue depressor method.

1 can of chalkboard paint, and 1 pack of craft sticks

I have two plantings each of Italian Parsley, Basil, Chives and Cilantro. We'll see in 5-10 days if we have sprouts!

So, I still like to play with glitter

Wanted to share a fun, afternoon project...I found some stationary and labels on sale after the holidays and grabbed some of my favorite Martha Stewart craft supplies. I had fun making my own personalized stationary with her products!
My girl Martha has it going on! One Glue Pen - check. One jar of glitter - check. A few labels and notecards ready to play with - check.

A sketchy day...

This is one of the drawings I have for sale at Heery's Too. I love the Arch and its always synonymous with The University of Georgia. I wanted to provide a sketch that was more guy-friendly! The coordinating note cards are also for sale there along with the sorority house drawings and stationary. Happy Tuesday!

Just sketchy...

I may be a bit partial, but Milledge Avenue in Athens is one of the prettiest streets ever, and its because of the historic mansions lining the streets that comprise the Greek life at UGA. Heery's Too didn't have many options associated with sorority life at the University of Georgia. I have a beautiful drawing of the ADPi house that my mother-in-law gave me, and thought that it would make a lovely gift for others as well. I did simple sketches of a few of the sorority houses, framed them, and have them on sale at Heery's Too. Just wanted you all to see what I did on
Tuesday...

Christmas or Wedding Season? Wedding Season!

I love this picture of all of us girls last year at Hollie's rehearsal dinner - the colorful dresses, the big smiles, and the tans. Three of us in this picture got married last year, and this year is Meredith's turn! With her fun bridal shower coming up tomorrow, it got me thinking how much I love my friends and how much fun we've had at bachelorette weekends, showers, cocktail parties, rehearsal dinners, bridesmaids luncheons, and weddings; and just how much fun its been to be a bridesmaid! This got me thinking about my fabulous friend Sara Lloyd, and I found these pictures of the role her beautiful handbags have had in all of these fun wedding events.
This photo was taken at my wedding reception last year. Obviously, my bridesmaids posted up at this cocktail table - I think this is Kim's beautiful bag that Sara did for her wedding in April of 2008.
When Kim was engaged, she employed Sara to make all of our bridesmaids gifts and here they are all together - I thought the colors were beautiful for her fuchsia and turquoise wedding.
Sara has done really well with bridal parties - my friend Amy used her for her gifts last year, and I gave the hostesses of my bridesmaids' luncheon one as a thank you gift. This is a photo (courtesy of Zeke Smith Creative) of a few bags that Sara did for a wedding last year. Several of us brides have enlisted her to make a beautiful, special bag for our wedding days too. Sara's blog Out to Lunch is adorable, so keep up with her fabulous life in The City here!
