Gossip Magazine Lovin', Part Deux

Getting magazines in the mail is one of my most favorite simple pleasures. Shoot, I just love getting mail. Its kind of a joke at my parent's house when my Dad would walk in with a pile of mail, we'd all fight to see what came in! You can imagine what this was like around Christmas time when cards began to come in and when I got married and the response cards were arriving daily.

I've been subscribing to Vanity Fair for a while now....I read my first issue after grabbing it from a stand in the airport and was hooked! A celebrity usually graces the cover, but the magazine has wonderfully in depth articles on international leaders, fashion icons, actors and popular cases in the media.
In the front of the magazine, however, the FANFAIR section features a celebrity and their favorite things. In the same lines of my US Weekly post, I did my own MY STUFF feature. Would love to see YOUR STUFF too!

A GEORGIA wedding

On Saturday morning, my Mom, Abbye, Brince, David and I drove to Athens to meet my Dad for a wedding. He had come up early to attend the rehearsal dinner, and we were excited to get into town too.
The wedding took place at The Georgia Club outside of Athens. Dr. Johnny Bembry and Mrs. Latrelle are longtime buds of my parents, and me and my sibs grew up with their children, William and Tilden. We were happy to be there to celebrate William and Morgan's wedding day with them!  

While waiting to eat lunch at Last Resort, we scooted to the new rooftop bar of the Georgia Theater. Its so cool up there! And has great views of downtown and campus.

The wedding site was gorgeous! And the weather was just lovely.

Morgan and William smiled the entire ceremony! You can tell how happy they make each other.

After the ceremony, we were led inside for the reception.

The cakes were both fabulous! The father of the groom cut the piece of wood for the wedding cake to be placed on.

The father of the groom, Dr. Johnny, is here in the center between my dad and Mr. James. They were college roomies at UGA, and are still best friends. These three had a late night on Friday night - I think they thought they were still in college. ;)

After the wedding, us kiddos took advantage of a night in Athens. Complete with General's, Jaeger bombs, and The Loft. Good times.

...And Homecoming then

As I previously posted, David, me, and my family were at Asa's junior year Homecoming game on Friday night. It was also Alumni Night at Westfield, and it got me a little misty thinking about my baby bro being old enough to play Varsity ball, and how kinda old it makes me feel. Ten years ago, I was a senior, cheering on those same sidelines. Sometimes its hard for me to believe that Asa is 18 years old, and Abbye, at 21, is about to graduate from college. Time flies!
While at home, I took a few minutes to find a few pictures from my high school homecomings. Like most schools, we had spirit week leading up to the football game. Usually, we dressed up on Wednesday and Thursday according to a theme, and then Fridays were always green and gold day. Hope these make you laugh like they did me!

Obviously, this is on camo day. Too funny. Either my and Christen's 8th or 9th grade year. 

This is Amy and me (with one of the seniors, Allison) our freshman year on Homecoming court. Makes me laugh!

As freshman headed to the dance, we met at the Watson's house to take pictures before we got into our limo with our sparkling grape juice. We had so much fun that night - I think we felt really grown up.

Its funny to look back...the guys' clothes are still the same, but short dresses are way more popular with Asa'a schoolmates now.

This was our sophomore year on Twin Day! Linsey, Me, Christen, and Amy were a tight foursome!

This is our junior year on Tacky Day. Christen, Amy (that dress cracks me up!), me Summer, and Lauren.

This is my senior year on Pajama Day.

We were all cheerleaders together, and somehow were all placed in Mr. Crosby's 3rd period study hall. Every day we spent the period in the Cheerleader Workroom, where we are in this pic. We had the best time in there!

This is also in the cheerleader workroom on Nerd Day. Tammy, Me, Christen, Olivia, and Candice.

We chose Haunted Hornet Homecoming as the theme for our senior year dance. Christen's dad, Mr. Draper, is a funeral director and got us seniors 2 hearse to ride in to the pep rally.

That's Chance riding shotgun. We slowly crept around the track until we got back to the home side. It was awesome!

Before our senior homecoming dance, we met at Cole's parents' house where a limo took us to eat and then to the dance. Cole was kind enough to escort a bunch of us senior girls to the dance and we had a ball!

This was probably around my junior year, so Asa would've been about 7. What a cute little fellow!

This was the night of my 16th birthday party (remember the leopard ensemble I wore on Twin Day and those black hose? I kept them on for cheerleading practice, hence the weird outfit for the birthday girl). Asa would have been 6 and Abbye would be 9. Aren't they the cutest?

My senior year, Asa was a ball boy for the football team. Here he is wearing his big bro Brince's #14 jersey. I have no idea what he and I are talking about, but I'm probably trying to swipe some water.

And here is Brince in his junior year, and me in my senior year. I loved being a cheerleader while he was a football player!

Homecoming, Now...

On Friday afternoon, David and I scooted to Perry to meet the fam to watch the Homecoming game at Westfield, and of course to see Asa play. It was also Alumni Night, so we were able to see a bunch of the friends that Brince and I went to highschool with. Abbye even sang the National Anthem with her HS trio group - they won State 3 years during HS. Ten years ago, in the Fall of 2001, it was my senior year of highschool. It got me reminiscing on homecomings past, so stay tuned for a few of those funny photos...

Gossip Magazine Lovin'

I admit it.

Hello, My name is Maggie and I am a celebrity gossip addict.

Each time one of my "news" magazines comes in the mail, I get so excited. A little peek into the lives of the celebrities...how fun! Don't worry, I know that 99.9% of the stories in these things are total trash, but every month a celeb does "25 Things You Dont Know About Me" in US Weekley. Call it blogger boredom or call it a slow afternoon, but I decided to do one of these too. Even though all of my ~30 followers probably know all of these things already. 

I'd love if you other bloggers would do one too...surely there's something we don't know about each other, right? 

 

A family wedding in Atlanta

David's first cousin, Kathryn, was married over the weekend in Atlanta. Have you seen her parent's house that I have been working on?
The weekend began on Friday with me working at the home of the parents of the bride getting ready for the brunch on Sunday. I set tables, arranged the bride's gifts, made sure everything was clean, and moved things out of the way for the caterers. (Look for a post about the brunch on Wednesday on my Bellissimo and Bella blog!)
Later on Friday, David and I joined the Griffins for a spaghetti dinner at the Griffin condo. My parents arrived on Saturday in time to have a late lunch at Noche in Town Brookhaven before we got dressed for the 6:30pm wedding ceremony. Here's a few photos from the reception, and a few of the brunch.  

The wedding was at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Peachtree - only two blocks from the reception site - the Fox Theatre's Egyptian Ballroom.

Loved that they were featured on the marquee!

The flower arrangements were gorgeous! Different heights, but all contained the hydrangea, roses, and berries.

Aiden was my little buddy for the night! We missed Fain, but were happy to have Aiden there!

This beautiful boy was having fun!

The groom (far left guitarist) and his band played for about half an hour! They were so good - wish they would've played longer! Aiden and I did enjoy a short dance though.

The mother of the bride, Caron, is in the gold - dancing with her buddies!

So glad my parents could come too!

At the brunch on Sunday, Ben and Aiden enjoyed the new indoor swimming pool!
