Twenty-eight is great

Monday was my 28th birthday - yay!
Haha, it feels funny to think about being 28. I mean, its not particularly old or anything, but seeing baby bro at 18 reminds me of how much transpires in the 10 years between 18 and 28.
After spending Saturday with my Mom and Hollie, I came home to my perf hubbs on the grill cooking dinner, a glass of wine poured, and roses to say {Happy Birthday}. On Sunday, my Dad, Asa, and Sydney drove up to spend the day with us! I LOVED being with them all. In tow was this amazing Pat Coody red velvet cake. Every year they bring me one, and every year it gets better and better. Man, they're good.
On Monday, I had lunch with David and dinner with my gals at No. 246 in Decatur. It was a great weekend, and great day!

Gosh, I am a lucky girl.

I suppose I could have had these out in the living room or in the kitchen, but they're so pretty to see when I go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning. They keep me company while I'm getting ready in the mornings.

And something else I can never get enough of - these girls. They always make me feel special.

Bowling and Senior Night

 Last Thursday, David and I started our weekend a little early with bowling at 300 in Atlanta with a few of our buddies. Meghan and Brian, Hollie and Wesley, and Renee all met us there...guys vs. girls - us girls took waaaay longer than the boys; we had a lot to talk about! :)

On Friday, David headed to spend the night with Robert before the UGA/NMS game on Saturday. While they were having guy time, I accompanied my aunt Jill to Rome to see her oldest, Ivy's, Senior Night. Ivy's out for the season with a leg injury, so he was in khakis; but, my cousin Chandler, Ivy's younger brother, played a great game! He's #25 in the pics!


Guys take this very seriously. And boy, are they fast at taking their turns!

Special words

A few weeks ago, after Steve Jobs passed away, my friend Lauren sent us girls this morning devotional. I loved it, and wanted to share it all with you as well.

Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Matthew 25:29
"...To everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away."


This is one of the final verses in the "Parable of the Talents," and it offers a warning. The parable is telling us that we must use the gifts that we have been given, and those gifts will multiply themselves. If we choose to live a life where we do not take full advantage of what we have been blessed with, everything will be taken away. This is the biblical equivalent of the law of attraction - you will receive more of what you put out in terms of thoughts and actions (or inaction). If you continually focus on being good enough or on not having gifts, you will continue to have none, to not be good enough in your mind. If instead you focus on your good qualities and the qualities which enrich your life, you will surely attract more of that into your life.

Erma Bombeck says it pretty good in this quote..."When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me"."

A Time to Meet James

I hope you all caught my friend James Farmer on The Today Show on October 25th! He was fabulous!

Highlands for Halloween

Happy {late} Halloween to all of you blogger friends!

For the weekend, David and I headed to Highlands with our friends Callie and Brian Hughs, and Colby and Jamie Smithson. We arrived Friday afternoon at Callie's parents adorable house before dinner at Wild Thyme. Delish!!!

On Saturday morning, the group hiked Whiteside Mountain after breakfast, and then hit Mountain Fresh Grocery for lunch before settling in for an afternoon/night of football. It was so wonderfully relaxing!

After cleaning up the house and having a birthday breakfast for Callie on Sunday, we hit a few shops on the way out of town. A late lunch at Dillard House was the end of our amazing weekend with friends! Happy Fall!

Callie, Brian, and Jamie are all Auburn graduates. Sadly, the Auburn game wasn't on TV in Highlands, but we felt the spirit with Callie's adorable FunFetti AU cakes.

The boys watching the Georgia game on the porch - yay for that awesome win against Florida! We gals stayed inside and napped/snacked. It was cold!

This adorable little guy was spooked after a bear came up close to the house. He stayed close after that!

On Sunday, after a 25th birthday breakfast for Callie, we stopped by Brian's parent's awesome house to see the view. Whiteside Mountain is gorgeous from their back yard - that's the trail we hiked on Saturday morning.
