Our Spanish Senorita

My baby sis, Abbye, is about to embark on her trip abroad to Madrid, Spain on Friday. So, over the weekend, my parents hosted her a surprise farewell dinner with family and Abbye's two best friends Stacey and Allison. We had tapas before a dinner of Sangria, Mexican salad, and shrimp tacos...all followed up by divine red velvet cupcakes!
Mom's dining room decorated for an adios fiesta for our Spanish Senorita!

Oranges, wild pears, lemons, limes, other herbs and potted plants served as the centerpiece!

Red velvet cupcakes ready for dessert!

Abbye, and her fellow travel companion, Stacey, accidentally wore the same outfit. No worries though, Abs made a quick switcheroo!

Aunt Jill, Gracie, Chris and Gongaman came to say adios too!

We had Spanish tapas pre-meal - prosciutto and melon, homemade hummus, and roasted olives!

It was great to catch up with Alli about her recent time in Montepulciano, Italy before we see Abbye and Stacey off on their trip!

Abbye even got a few presents to aid her in her time away from home!

You're going to have the BEST time Abbye! We are all so excited for you and your adventure!

Dad's Breakfast

On Sunday, the actual Father's Day, we played hooky from church and met the fam at the Horseshoe for an early lunch. So, here's the conclusion to our hectic busy weekend!
These three didn't coordinate their outfits, but looked adorable nonetheless!

Gongaman, Jill, Chris, and Gracie met Mom, Dad, Asa, David, Brince, and me at the Horseshoe for an early lunch. G'man wore his Auburn tie, and coincidentally matched his Auburn-themed Father's Day gift basket.

Pretty Gracie! She was heading to Auburn basketball camp later that afternoon.

G'man really liked his gift, and my dad did too - he got a set of 12 Tervis Tumblers with his initials on them. Those things grow legs at my parent's house, but now, he can keep track of them all. :)

Pool Party

After the SummerHill birthday party, we all had a little siesta before heading over to my in-law's for a cookout. They graciously invited my crew to join theirs, so my parents and Brince came too. Naturally David and I love when our families get together! Here's a few shots from the party...
Ben and Aiden had a ball swimming all night!

My Dad, David's uncle Grady, David's Uncle Steve, David, and Benjy manning the grill.

Pammy's sister Noel's birthday is coming up, and Noel loves fruit - hence the Watermelon birthday cake!

Brince came with us to the cookout....we all had such a great time!

Pammy provided yet another gorgeous spread!

Look at those muscles!

Happy Birthday Mimi!

On Saturday morning after breakfast, the whole Coody crew traveled back south down the interstate for the rest of the day's festivities. David and I headed to SummerHill Nursing Home in Perry to help set up for his 90 year old grandmother Mimi's birthday party. My MIL did a great job of planning the fete. My parents joined us for the party too and we had the nicest time visiting with everyone.
David and I brought three bouquets of the gorgeous hydrangeas that grow in our yard....how incredible is this shade of blue? My MIL had lots of sweet photos of our Mimi around too, and had used her vintage table cloths to cover the round tables.

This is Mimi and her husband Hank.

Pammy did the most amazing job of pulling this special party together. She had a delicious coconut cake for Mimi's birthday, a  chocolate cake for Father's Day, and plenty of other treats to boot - pecan pie brownies, sugar cookies, cheese wafers, pound cake, white chocolate macadamia cookies, chips, egg salad in biscuits, and Amanda's toasted pecans.

David and I stopped to grab some balloons for Mimi...and treated her to a bottle of wine too. :) I love this photo - that's Mimi on the right with her two sisters.

What a pretty spread!

Pammy invited all of the special people in Mimi's life, and most of them made the trek to visit her. Also, the residents and nurses from Mimi's hall came to enjoy a treat too.

And this little guy, was, of course, there to celebrate too!

He was a cutie pie in his outfit....he explained that he was wearing one of his flip flops from his red pair, and one of the flip flops form his blue pair - they were his party decorations. Talk about festive!

Aiden, the other little cutie pie, looked adorable in his outfit too. So handsome!

Here's Mimi's clan - that's Pam's brother Chris on the left, next to Pam's sister Noel, her daughter Pamela with son Lange in the back, Pammy, Mimi's sister Shirley (who's 87!), Amanda with Ben, my David and the birthday girl upfront.

Look at those smiles!

And man! Is he not THE cutest grandson ever?

I found a little photo book-making kit at Paper Source, and made this for Mimi for her birthday. I filled it with pictures of her family so she could show her visitors.

Friday night Braves Game

Our Father's Day weekend began by David and me meeting my parents and sibs at Turner Field for a Braves game. Mom had gotten us tickets a few months ago, but had just surprised Dad a few days beforehand. We were a little concerned with the storms that kept rolling over, but it ended up being a lovely afternoon and evening. We all laughed, enjoyed a good ol' ballpark hot dog, and a few cold beers. It was a nice beginning to Father's Day!
The afternoon started a little rainy...

So David and I found a nice spot under an umbrella in the bar. :)

When these cutie pies walked up!

Then we found our seats. Mom had gotten us 8 seats under the overhang of the club level - clutch!

And it was a gorgeous afternoon at Turner Field.

Even though the Braves didn't get the win.

Brince, Asa, Abbye, and Carrie Margaret piled into the trundle bed room. David and I took comfy sofa bed.

And we completed our time in Atlanta at J. Christopher's in Brookhaven for breakfast before the rest of the day's activities! Stay Tuned!
